It had been a while since I had been to downtown Hamilton and so decided to talk a wander. The south side of Gore Park is now traffic free except for emergency vehicles, however, it apparently didn’t discourage people driving from Hughson Street to James Street N.
The Royal Connaught is still under renovation, however, there appears to be more demolition that renovation. Most the frontage to the former hotel was blocked off by construction fencing. I assumed this was due to the work to what were once retail stores on the ground floor. The rear of the building and an area along the east side of Hughson were pretty well gutted.
It was the eve of the longest day and in the late evening, as the sun sank in the west end, there were some interesting long shadows and reflection along King Street W.
